Our goal
Operation Desert Tortoise is a collaborative project, led by a group of graduate researchers from the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management (Bren School) and partnered with the Desert Tortoise Council (The Council). The project focuses on the application of research, literature, and expertise to finding real solutions to the threats faced by the Agassiz's desert tortoise.
Framework Components
Our framework was developed using three objectives established in collaboration with the Desert Tortoise Council. Keeping the needs of the desert tortoise in mind, our objectives were to define strategic habitat restoration, develop a method to evaluate a sites potential for restoration and to develop a site-specific restoration plan. Using these three objectives, we created the three main components of our framework.
